Orthopaedics is the branch of medicine concerned with diseases, injuries and conditions of the musculoskeletal system - relating to the body's muscles and skeleton, and including the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves.
Orthopaedic surgeons provide services for diseases and disorders of the skeletal system, which include everything from setting broken limbs and replacing damaged joints to reconstruction and treating injuries of the spine. They work closely with nurses, radiologists, physical and occupational therapists, trauma services and other specially trained personnel to provide the best patient care.
